Bill Bass

Bill Bass is the Innovation Coordinator for Parkway School District in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he leads strategy for 18,000 students across 29 schools. A former president of ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), Bill brings 12 years of district leadership in innovation plus a career that spans from high school English teacher to tech coach to instructional leader.

He also served on the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) board as secondary representative and co-authored NCTE’s “Definition of Literacy in the Digital Age.” With roots in education stretching back to the late 1990s, Bill is one of the field’s most grounded voices on technology, learning, and what it actually means to prepare students for an uncertain future. He’s the father of 22-year-old twins and a passionate advocate for creating authentic learning spaces in an age of rapid change.

What does digital literacy actually mean when AI changes the definition daily? Bill Bass, Innovation Coordinator for Parkway School District and former ISTE president, joins Brett and Rebecca to tackle the impossible divide schools face: parents demanding AI-free learning spaces while students will inevitably encounter these tools in the real world.
