John Schembari

John Schembari, EdD, is a school improvement consultant and a former school and district administrator. He works with schools largely in New York City and spends much of his time coaching teachers. At Brooklyn College, part of the City University of New York, he serves as a student teaching advisor, and he uses AI feedback on recorded lessons to give his student teachers richer conversations about their practice. He sees AI as a way to extend student thinking and to help students keep ownership of their learning, and he wants teachers to teach its effective use whether or not their district allows it.

John hosts the Have a Life Teaching podcast, where conversations with educators range from practical classroom strategies to bigger questions about the purpose of teaching and learning. He also writes a LinkedIn newsletter aimed mostly at school leaders.
